The hell you say. I find al-d's remarks no more worthless than most of the other wacko's that are allowed to post here under the auspice that has nothing to do with Y2K. Since this board's discussion have turned mainly away from Y2K discussions, I find your words not to conforting. I do not find WORDS threatening in the least until those words are put into action. Al-d is probably the most harmless person on this board. What if I find the rambling of these wacko's offensive and harrassing? Are you going to delete them? IMHO, this board has lost its focus for the most part and if I recall, everyone should let their mouse do some work. OT subjects are the mainstream here and thats to bad. With less than 100 day to go before the big event, the least of your worries should be al=d.

There are others here who have posted inflammatory and baiting"info" but due to "their faith and practice" have not been banished by the "Brethren." Once again, in my opinion, the hand of the "moderate" moderators is visible for everyone.

100 Days.

I'm able to read less here -- I spend 20 minutes a day, not 2 hours anymore.

I don't even have time anymore to come back to threads and see who has said what in response to whom. I may be missing great posts but I can't take the greater chance of missing some Real-Life turning points here.

I NEED the New Answers (New Threads) menu to turn over in 3 or 4 days, not 1.5 days.

I can only click into 10 or 20 threads on it now, not 1/3 of them. DAMN!

Sysops have done a good job of removing attacks from trolls. Thank them!

I still spend 2 or 3 Web hours a day; I just can't afford to spend them all here, as I did in January-June. The glut here is just too costly in time for the amount of help or info it gives. Time to tighten up the ship!

Just the fact that we even have the question of an "al-D" in our minds at the 100-day mark, is a sign of our lagging at our mission, which is to help us all be ready for rollover. Other garbage is just harder to identify and decide to eliminate. You start where you can.

(I've known other sick people who cluttered up other community activities -- we tried to help them when we could, but we had to -- and sometimes failed to -- keep them from taking us down. This ain't no therapy camp!)

Again, it's just the sysops job to cut down the volume of garbage that gets in our way.

After Jan. 1 (maybe) anyone can do or say whatever the **** they want.

I've never posted a response to a religious question in here before but I'm breaking my own rule now. I too, am a born-again Christian and have no problem with what Al says. His presentation may not be my cup of tea but to force his views off the forum is a bit much. If he were a tree-hugging, PETA freak, wiccan, new-ager, I doubt very seriously that anything he had to say would be chastised. My Bible says that "every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is LORD." You may not believe that and that's ok, but there will come a day you will have wished that you had willingly done this. How many letter's of the alphabet that follow your name does not a wise person make.

Lighten up guys. How many times have you read about gold from one of Andy's threads. At some point, what he is saying will come to pass. What makes you think what Al says won't, too?

On the subject of al-d,

The only problem I have with him, is his, shall we say "creative" use of syntax, punctuation and grammer, which tend to make his posts unreadable. As far as his ideology goes, there are a lot of posters who present the same ideas, and a lot of them are a lot more forceful, verbose and persistent than al-d.

And as to him saying the same thing over and over again, c'mon gang. Don't we all? I've only been active on this board for a little shy of two months, with about three weeks lurk time, before that, and I can already predict what people can say with pinpoint accuracy. Sure, every once in a great while, I'm surprised, but it's pretty rare. There is a straight party line, for every position, and most of us can be counted on to speak it, at the appropriate moment.Pollies will say polly things, moderates will say moderate things and doomers will say doomer things. The same could be said about political and religious allegiances. al-d's just hammering away at his favorite nail, like the rest of us. He just has, ummmmmm, a "different" way of holding the hammer.

This is not really meant to flame either Chuck or Di. The two of you must face an incredible temptation, on a daily basis to do mass deletes, and I applaude your restraint. But I always think it requires a second look, anytime a particular poster is being singled out for deletion.

Besides, aren't you just a little worried that this is feeding into al-d's disease, anyway?

Al-d repeatedly demonstrates his inability to comprehend the nature of the complaints about him. He persists in his belief that he alone is persecuted because of his faith...absolutely not true. Al is deluded in the extremity of his need to feel like a martyr for God. But, as others have said, it is NOT the intent of this forum to provide therapy.

In the midst of the Y2K end game, religious/spiritual discussions are not off-topic, IMHO. While I am not a Christian, I've found Craig's postings on the subject interesting, and not in the least disruptive to this forum, because they are infrequent, on-topic, and respectful of others. In fact, there was not a single delete request on a fairly lengthy thread here yesterday regarding the differences between Catholicism and fundamental Christianity. I read every one of the posts there because the contributors were, overall, intelligent, articulate, and respectful. I also appreciated that their viewpoints were contained in a single thread intended for that topic.

There are many posters on TB2000 with sincere religious convictions, just as passionate in their faith as Al-d, who are not clogging up every single thread on the board with their beliefs. Yesterday, there was NO escaping Al-d's posts...there was more than one thread where Al-d's incoherent typing appeared as every other post! Even King of Spain doesn't post his often-read tagline on EVERY thread on the board...and NEVER more than once on the same thread! The moderators, and other forum members, have repeatedly requested the same of Al-d. The deletions are, IMO, l-o-n-g overdue and have absolutely nothing to do with Al-d's Christianity. What a crock!

It has been 4 days since you posted your very polite warning to Al-d. Since then, it appears to me that the behavior you warned against has escalated. I understand what a major undertaking it is to moderate a forum that is as busy as this one, and do appreciate your efforts. I have a question, though. Is the only way we can be spared this continual onslaught for someone to e-mail you every time we see it? He's a slow learner, who doesn't "get" there are many paths up the mountain, and that his savior would NOT approve of his actions here.

Perhaps he'll learn. Or not.
