Trains, Coal and Power - any new info?

Any recent info on trains? All coal fired power plants depend to some extent on train transported coal even if the final delivery is made by barge or by donkey. No trains, no coal, no power. Not to mention the massive amounts of chem's delivered by rail for production of everything from plastics to twinkies. Just a thought.

The BNSF railyard in Kansas City, KS has installed a HUGE diesel generator in close proximity to their fueling stations within the last few months.

Many plants are mine-mouth plants and don't depend on trains.

I saw an article recently indicating that since NS acquired part of Conrail, coal deliveries have been delayed in the northeast. Inventories have been severely depleted at some power plants. If they are having computer problems now, it will only get worse next year.
