OT-does anyone remember or have link to the last threads about earthquake predictions about 4-6wks ago? Just interested in rereading the predictions. TIA if anyone has info.

I thought I recalled vaguely about a forum poster who said he/she was predicting one in China,or Taiwan,Phillipines,SE Asia or thereabouts. The Taiwan one today reminded me of that post.

I don't know the thread, but usgs.gov is not responding

could be they are a little busy watching this big one?

Barb,

One of the threads was called one for the road,it was the second posted by a lady visiting Colorado. She said --Big quake-I'm dropping Argentina.California,Mexico,Thailand still in the picture.

I got through to the USGS and this is the series that they are reporting, at least 4 bigones in a row!

Yes,

If memory serves me, which it always does with these prognostications of disasters by people who seem to know.

It was from St. Francis he/she predicted cataclysmic earthquakes within 10 days of the Turkey earthquake. he/she effectuated a huge thread from many good folks on the forum but just like St. Louis before---NONE of this crap has anything to do with----y2k,bankruns-computer problems!!

Great fodder though-as we all countdown!!

Thanks for the "brainpicks." I'm checking out the old threads next. Good diversion and definitely OT but still interesting. Have a good one all. Best wishes!

Are there any tidal wave warnings out?

-- balance (give@take.earth), September 20, 1999.

"No Kidding" predicted the one in California on the San Andreas fault. I'll try to search for the thread. St. Francis' prediction never happened.

-- memory (memory@memorryy.com), September 20, 1999.

Go to "Uncategorized" threads find the thread "5.0 earthquake along San Andreas Fault" There's a post that will get you to the link your looking for which is:

"The earth will move in great force in the next 10 days." The thread was started by St. Francis

Can't say for sure, but I've noticed that earthquake activity north and south of the lower Central Valley has increased in the past three weeks, but there has only been one little quake on the San Andreas in the whole 250 mile sector north and south of Parkfield. Granted, as one observer wrote earlier, the 5+ magnitude quake in August north of San Francisco "reduced " the potential energy in the North, and there have been constant small uakes in the LA basin for several weeks, but if there is no release of energy for three weeks in the middle of the fault, the "one" that does come in that area will be more powerful.

I'd rather have a whole bunch of small quakes than one large one.

Yes, tidal wave warnings! This was a really bad one in intensity.

-- Mara Wayne (MaraWayne@aol.com), September 20, 1999.

was it really francis? i remember it was a man who "feels" earthquakes coming and has a pretty good hit ratio from what he said. he mentioned three specific locations where quakes were to hit. isn't this the one you speak of? i copied the text but can't find it. oh, earthquake feeler, where are you?

-- tt (cuddluppy@yahoo.com), September 21, 1999.

And there was this http://greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=001QmC about evil geologists. Not in your 3-4 week time frame though. Anyone know whether it came true?

-- J (j@j.j), September 21, 1999.

There's a guy here in Australia called david Kriss who's made a number of accurate predictions. His one about the coming Indonesian invasion of Australia is a bit frightening. It was made three years ago. Don;t know if he has a web site.
