BECU and Washington Mutual customers find that their VISA and ATM cards weren't working today....

FYI:Just heard on the 10:00 news this eve that BECU and Washington Mutual customers had a rude awakening when trying to use their VISA cards at some restarants and some ATM machines. Apparently the flooding at a communications hub in New Jersey caused many folks embarrasement when their cards were refused/ they couldn't access their accounts. Just another example of how we are all interconnected and interdependant on all the pieces of the puzzle working.

Can't seem to find the news story on any of the local news webpages....

got cash?

It is very interesting . . .KING, KOMO, KIRO tvs are all mute on this subject on their pages - king has been teasing with this story this evening

The Times and P.I. are the same - not a peep

Not that I didn't believe you, but I didn't believe that NO ONE would have anything!

Maybe it didn't happen and won't happen and we should go back to sleep

My grocery store (A&P) could not process credit cards all day (Friday). However, the pharmacy next door had no trouble. [tinfoil hat off]

Here in Eugene Or, the computers for two local credit unions, ULano and Selco were down in midweek. I tried to pay by debit card and it was a no go. I asked the clerk why they were down and he grinned and said, "Y2K maybe?" I then asked if I could have the viagra on credit and the little prick said no! There's gonna be some pissed off women in this town!

On LA news for one of the networks last night, they said that an EDS facility in NC, that handles ATM transactions for much of the the U.S. was flooded and was down. EDS hoped to have this fixed by Sunday, with qualifier that Sunday was what they were hoping for ... but they didn't yet know full extent of problem.
