related in the embedded systems area. I set the timer to record on the 16th which showed as Thursday. I checked later and it had not recorded. I checked the program and it showed the times for Tues the 16th. There is no Tues the 16th. I know that the day of the week changed in the memory and it did not record. This is interesting. All of the pollys and writers say Y2k is nothing and YOUR VCR WILL STILL WORK. Talk about B S. Has this happened to anyone else? I am wondering if this is a timer issue where a timer rolled over like the GPS system. It could be a normal circuit problem buy why would the date change? The VCR works fine otherwise. It is about 5 years old.

Depends. When my folks bought one recently, we rolled the clock forward just to see what happened. Everything was fine. Let's hope that other more complex things work as good as their VCR. But I'm not holding my breath.

What year is the VCR set to? If its new and you didnt set the year or you accidentally changed it, that could be the answer. By the way if it showed Tuesday as the 16th did it also show Wednesday as the 17th?

Th timer in my new VCR will not work. My brain has a Y2K glitch in it that will not allow it to learn how to do it!
