Good recipe for making soy milk

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I've found a number of very different recipes for making soy milk. I'd like to hear from those who have made soy milk and have a recipe they think is particularly good. Thanks so much.

I just use a soy milk powder which we purchase at a healthfood store but I wonder if anyone knows of any place else to purchase this type of powder. I'll be listening for some of these recipes myself!

If you're looking for a recipe to make the soy milk from actual soybeans, I have a great one, but it requires some work. If your interested write me and I'll send it to you. God Bless

Soy Milk 1 package Mori-Nu firm tofu Process in blender until 1 cup water smooth

Add 1/2 tsp barley malt powder (or to taste), 1/2 tsp salt and 1 tsp vanilla. Add enough water to make almost 1/2 gallon. Let sit overnight to blend flavors. If you like it sweeter add honey, rice syrup or barley malt.

Soak a generous amount of beans. Change water. Cook until very soft (I plan to try pressure). Pulverize in blender or food mill. Strain. Use okara (solids) quickly or freeze. Heat milk back to 160' and bottle. Keep refrigerated. I think my recipe came from Joy of Cooking, but called for too much water. I like a few drops of vanilla extract in the milk. I won't be making more until the goat is dry.
