Another Sunset

Nikkormat EL w/24mm 1/2sec @ f22 Kodak Gold 400. This amazing sunset showed it's head when I didn't have any slide film on me. I had no filters but the 1hr lab reddened it a little(not as much as it looks) for me as they thought I'd want them to.. which I didnt... I have cropped a little darkness of the left side...

Very nice. Where is it? It'd be better if you had a scan of the negative.

I like it a lot. Very nicely framed. I especially like the way the trees on the left provide a interesting balance point between the background horizon and the foreground. My eye follows a nice path from the central bright area on the horizon to left middle-ground to the right fore-ground. It naturally leads me to view the entire picture and holds my interst. My eyes continue to repeat the path, picking up more detail with each pass. The colors are excellent as well.

Very nice Paul, especially the way you positioned the tree on the right. What a perfect setting for such an intense sunset. S many sunsets are flat, but this has depth. Good work! Donna

Paul, what's a main subject? Sunset is a nice background for something but the tree on the right is too tightly cropped from the top to be the main (strong point) subject and it occupies too much space vertically. There is a lot of unnecessary elements below horizon line which make my eyes wandering but in rather unpleasant way - I look for something to put my eye on firmly. The format as for lanscape seems to be too square (maybe you should crop a little from the bottom?). Generally for me too much "noise" as for calm evening landscape. Zbig.

The sky is gorgeous .. good work. But I find there are too many distractions on the forground. The eye moves between the yellow sunlit sky and the black tree top. What about cropping the bottom ?
