Dr. Gordon is an expert and has written a white paper on embedded chip systems. She is a provisional 5-9.5 5 if the gov. starts right now to take leadership and make y2k priority 1. 9.5 if things stay the way they are right now. Looks like a 9.5 to me.

An expert? In what? Below is part of her Biography from a Y2K conference in Rome. Note what her Ph.D. is in. And more importantly what its not: i.e. anything technical.

Paula Gordon PAULA GORDON is a Visiting Research Professor and Director of Special Projects in the George Washington University Research Program in Social and Organizational Learning. In addition she serves as an independent consultant and contractor and as an Adjunct Professor of Management Science in George Washington University's School of Business and Public Management. Her adjunct teaching also includes the Management and Marketing Division of Johns Hopkins University's School of Continuing Studies and the Northern Virginia Center of the University of Virginia.

Her Ph.D. in Public Administration is from American University and her BA and MA degrees are from the University of California at Berkeley. She also completed course work in a second Ph.D. in Educational Policy Planning and Administration at the Graduate School of Education, University of California at Berkeley. Her areas of emphasis in her graduate programs were leadership theory, governmental management, organizational theory and development, and political philosophy. Her dissertation, Public Administration in the Public Interest, described a new paradigm of public administration that included an emphasis on complex societal problem solving.

9.5 if the government doesn't do anything...that could mean at least a 9.6, given their propensity to make things worse!

-- Mad Monk (madmonk@hawaiian.net), September 15, 1999.

Y2K stopped being a just 'technical' problem quite awhile ago. It is equally about interdependencies and interconnections in a complex society. Dr Gordon does appear to have significant experience in these areas.

So, from where I stand, Dr. Gordon is more than qualified to speak on the issues.

"An expert in what?"

Well, out of all the people C-Span could have had on their program for y2k they invited Dr. Gordon. Hmmm. Must know something don't you think?

But skeptics usually need to be overwhelmed with evidence before they change their minds so I offer the following. Let me know what you think about her level of expertise after you get done reading.

Thanks Arnie for that clarification.

Mr Skeptic:

I know nothing about Paula. She may be an expert in this area or not. One thing that I know is that education is a continuing process [maybe not for you; but it should be]. What she does know may be unrelated to her degree programs [I know that it is true for me]. I'm not sure what background an expert in Y2K should have. It is a simple problem with complicated consequences.

Best wishes,

Well, since FEMA is the BIGGEST DOG if the SHTF, and Paula Gordon is a former director at FEMA, then I guess she should have an ear for what to expect, and what *IS* expected. During the C-SPAN interview I saw a very nervous and saddened person giving her take on the overall picture of Y2K, ... as an insider.
