B. Vian cite and translation needed...greenspun.com : LUSENET : Boris Vian : One Thread |
Can you assist me in translating this quote..."On peut tout mettre dans les boites, des cancrelats et des savates, et des oeufs durs ` la tomate. On peut y mettre aussi des gens, et mjme des gens bien vivants ! et intelligents." B. Vian
If you could help me cite where its from, I'd be very appreciative.
Thank you in advance,
David Rose

David,I've only had success (minor) with Vian's fiction where context helps a lot. For this quote I would hazarda guess: "You can put just about anything in a box, cockroaches, old running shoes, boiled egs with tomato sauce... And people - even intelligent ones."
I don't know where it's from although I have seen it before...

David, I think that the translation you´ve received is very good, however I think some of the "jeu de sons" of the original is missing and I think that´s why it would be fascinating to find and english and a spanish translation of it. By the way, do you know which novels of B. Vian have been translated into spanish? I think I´ll make my tesis on it, so I´d like to know. Thanks

Ma réponse est la suivante: It is normal that there is not "jeu de son" in the english version... because french is the most beautiful speaking... Art and french-speaking is in relation: brilliance, simplicity, dangerous n'est ce pas ?interesting web site
