I thought I would try this again and see if my photo would show up.

I can type in the url location of my photo and it appears on screen okay. When I use the link to post it here, nothing shows up. What am I doing wrong?

For an image to display properly with the tag it must be an image (Gif or Jpeg). Your URL contains text and frames and therefore must point to an HTML page. If you can extract the image URL it might be something like http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=89556&a=653861&p=12137926&Sequence=1

Whether this kind of URL would display properly is something that you would have to try posting...

Let's see:

Thanks Gordon.

This thread is getting lenghty, but it's working. Oops,I shouldn't have typed <img src> in the browser.

I'm a sky person, and I would like to see more of those fine cloud formations! This would best be done in camera, or while printing. The scanned image can be improved by adjusting the brightness and contrast to show more sky detail. This seems to have an autumn feel?

If you could get a little higher, the surf line would be distinct from the fence line. As it is, when I cast my gaze left to right, surf turns to fence. When I cast my gaze right to left, fence turns to surf. I start focusing on the point the lines change instead of the light and the clouds.

Was that your intent?

John, I guess this is one of those pictures without a "point" or intent. It was just starting to rain, the scene looked interesting thru the viewfinder, I shot and ran. I agree shooting at a higher angle probably would have been an improvement. It's a picture I personally like, but also realize other people would trash it. That's okay, I'm enjoying myself.

Don, I used to need to know intent. Now I don't. This seems a pretty straight forward shot. Beautiful light, great sky, that tall grass in just the right place in the length of the fence. And considering the degredation of small file presentation, it looks like a really nice print. The horizon is so crisp, I think it plays well against that pitiful drift fence (we humans are so good at denial). I love the natural gradient in the sand of the foreground or is that a really clever burn?

A celebration/recognition of a beautiful moment in your life and it makes me think of the few times I've seen all these things come together in mine. It's unplanned, unexpected, time stopping, goose bump inducing moments like this that make life worth all the problem solving and get you scrambling for the camera. I can feel the type of wind and the density of the humidity. Was there salt in your hair, sand in your shorts and a beer calling your name?...t

Tom, thanks for the nice comments. I'm glad somebody else liked the picture. I've been doing black and white photography for less than a year and still have a lot to learn. The bottom of the print is a burn. Thanks again Tom, I wished I could write like you.

Then it's a little heavy. That sort of edge/corner treatment should have a subliminal effect not a conscious one.

Only a year, huh? Not bad...t
