About the East Timor thing...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

Recently someone posted a message here saying how stupid it is of I-695 opponents to say that I-695 will contribute to environmental damage. As if auto emmissions had anything to do with global warming! How stupid they are.

Anyway, this person said that I-695 opponents probably will blame the situation in East Timor on I-695. Well, let me assure you people, the multinational corporations of the world have absolutely no interest in the oil and other natural resources which lie underneath East Timor. And even if they did, there's really not that much demand in the car-crazy U.S.A. for gasoline anyway, so the MNC's wouldn't stand to profit from continuing to have control over those resources by way of the Indonesian Army. Therefore General Waranto is NOT a puppet of the MNC's whose job is to punish the East Timorese for daring to mandate independence from Indonesia and the multinational corporations. Therefore there is no connection between our heavy consumption of gasoline and the genocide which has just occurred in East Timor.

So don't let those whiny cheesy liberals try to make you feel guilty about making your car the center of your life. I-695 is good for the environment AND good for democracy -- both here AND in covert action infested trouble spots around the world!

Vote YES on I-695!
