Aren't the opposition sites interested in the truth?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

Why do you suppose that the opposition sites continue to falsely tell those who go there that both Foreman and/or Carlson still oppose 695?

Are they so desperate that they have to lie about these things?

Yes!

But there is other good news. Every dime they spend against I-695 is a dime they can't spend trying to buy a politician when the legislature goes back into session.

Perhaps those sites haven't been updated yet. I have a copy of a letter by Dale Forman And the Republican Party stating their opposition to I-695. As well I have a copy of John Carlsons article with his opposition. Why do they waffel on their decisions? At least the opposition has remained with the same position, and not changed their minds depending on which way the wind blows. Speaking of which, those two sure do blow alot of wind huh.....hot air...!

Of course they are interested in the truth! The truth is, the supporters of those sites are advocates of big government. Anything that constrains the resources of government, works against big government. Therefore, they are against I-695. That's ALL that matters. Kinda like the NOW crowd and President Bubba. As long as his politics are OK, they'll give up any number of interns to keep him a happy camper. It ain't the principle, it's the politics.

Foreman publically declared his support in an interview during the Republican picnic... Carlson in a column in the Morning News Tribue on the 8th.

They've had plenty of time to change it... and the fact that they have not done so can only be considered a deliberate act.

Westin, your conspiratorial mind is working way too hard.

Are you referring to the site on earthlink? You may note that it appears that site hasn't changed in quite some time. Perhaps a month or so.

Here's what the other site (on angelfire) said about Carlson.

"KVI talk-show host, John Carlson now says he will vote for I-695. However, in January, he said I-695 is counterproductive for Washington. Carlson has been quoted criticizing I-695 on his local call-in show."

This is totally accurate.

Here's what they said about Foreman.

"State GOP chairman, Dale Forman believes this initiative will be bad for state programs. "I didn't think it was in the best interests of sound transportation policy" to endorse the latest initiative, Foreman said in an interview. The measure would hamstring the Legislature and put pressure on other taxes, he said."

Simple, they should add an addendum to it saying what he said on KVI, assuming he does indeed support the initiative. But Foreman did say this, so I don't understand what you're complaining about.

By the way, it's fascinating that Foreman hasn't had the guts to come forward with his support for 695 in any other forum than KVI. I've never seen a single printed article indicating that he supports this initiative.

Besides, if you want to talk about inaccuracies, start with the facts/claims section on this website.
