No panic until January...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

My entire family got on board to prepare fo Y2K February 1998. We are true believers and have changed our lifestyle to get ready. No regrets. And we 've seen a lot of predictions come to nothing at all. Staying current on Y2K news and developments has been a daily routine. We are savvy to what's going on, we know we are being set up in a big way. As post-millenial Calvinists we also know God is just and will not be mocked.Any one read Deut. chapter 28 lately? We are overdue for His visitation, if you are still following me. It's been frustrating seeing peple ignore all suggestions to make any preparations at all. I believe that most Americans are unable to imaginre any dramatic chenge to their lifestyle. So, here is MY PREDICTIO : "There will NOT be a mass panic to buy food, consumer goods and general emergency supplies until the first week of January 2000". This is based on my opinion that people are, firstly, under a shroud of delusion that prevents them from thinking clearly.( God will send a deluding spirit on a people who ask for it..) Secondly, because Americans worship an idol, a golden calf that they exalt over the Lord. The stock market and prosperity in general. They will serve their false god until it falls down. Since we all are amazed that it keeps rallying maybe it won't crash until late December. Thirdly, people are now programmed against preparing, thanks to Koskinem and testosterone challenged pastors. They will wait. Oh, they won't be waiting until the last minute either, thats my point. They are off guard. The masses are not poised to turn off the highway and head to Walmart credit card in hand to load up at the sudden news of nucleur power plants being shut down or at the news of a Fortune 500 mainframe falling over. They are asleep until after the fact, which is the first week of January. Ta-dah ! There you have it! Thanks to Andy@2000, Big Dog, Gary North, R.J. Rushdooney, and Jim Lord. 109 days,10 hours,05 miin to go. Fear God, not Y2K. Fear God, not man.

i hate to say it but i agree with you. unless something major stirs them. i originally thought one of these trigger dates might stir them but alas they remain asleep. i am really sorry to see it. i know i found myself breathing a slight sigh of relief however that i didn't have to run out and finish my last little bit of shopping the other day after the 9s. too bad.

Fools. People are fools. Look at the residence of areas hit by hurricanes or tropical storms. They are told about the storms path day's if not weeks ahead of time, yet every time you see the people buying all their crap the day before it makes landfall. THAT is how the public reacts to a threat they can SEE ON THE NEWS with pretty radar images and talking bleached heads. As far as y2k goes.........Their are NO pretty pictures to look at, in other words NO PROOF of ANYTHING and unless the media/gov. as a whole would come on tv every night in the month of December to warn about being prepared, the dumbass public will just keep chewin' their cud-no panic.

You've got about as much of a chance seeing the news/gov. doing the above scenario as I do of being abducted by aliens. To interfere with the Christmass buying season of useless shit is a capital offence. Come Jan. I'll feel sorry for.....no, I won't- nevermind.

People are fools,

I never believed this would be more than a 2 or a 3..

I could be wrong! I dont have a crystal ball. Doesen't it make sense to prepare? It is alarming that millions of people in my area dont have more than 3 or 4 days of food on hand. I'm alarmed!

I'm a software engineer. I have a friend SE that has three bare acres of land. I suggested that he buy fruit trees. (I planted five on my small lot). He just laughed. 'Bryce, wattya into! Becoming self- sufficient!'

Just what is wrong with that? My kids love picking fruit that we grow.. Is there something wrong with being a software engineer and a gardener as well?

Bryce

Complete agreement with you potent308. I'm not even sure they'll panic then. Not until they are hungry and getting no answers. Even then, there won't be panic,...there will be anger..rage. And they still won't get it. I was a sheeple, up until last year. Y2K opened my eyes to just how dependant I was on the everyday conviences of life, and how I fully expected them to continue on. Bad things happen to other people, not me. I still think as long as their TV's purr on about things being okay, they'll believe it. Network TV is yet another god. It tells you what to think, how to act, see how it coincides with the decline of morality and increase in violence in our world. I shudder at the thought of the one God unleashing his fury at this world. The stage is set...

Possibly we will see more visible disruption after 10/1/1999 since there are a ton more 12, 8, 6 and 4 week look ahead systems than 6 month or 12 month look ahead systems. These are used to control inventory all over the place. Early October will see these systems begin to look into 2000. Then again I could be wrong.

IMO if things go such that we have a sudden break on 1/1 vs a couple of jolts down the stairs (in the Fall) and a big one at the end then we will be in much worse shape since everyone will be completely complacent and completely shocked. We know that there is a significant group of people who 'intend' to do something (read that 'haven't done anything yet'). They are waiting. Other things are occupying their minds. At some point they will utter a collective expletive and start in on their preps. That is when you will see the panic start to rise.

I have a feeling that the government will start a major PR compaign as of the first of October. They will try to fill the airwaves with their version of preparations. This will be their first strike against the collective masses' awareness/actions. If they control the air they control the war. Up to a certain point they will succeed. If things start to get out of hand then they will start putting harder methods to work. I do not doubt that they have this thing staged out very clearly.

As each of us GI's is, I am amazed when I speak to friends and family who take this looming disaster so casually. As you do,"I am", I trust fully in the one true God who is not a fluffy Sugar Daddy waiting to grant our every wish, but who indeed is a Merciful Judge, working out in time and on earth all of His purposes for His Glory and our good.

My one sibling (out of 8) who is preparing (besides myself) states that she won't go overboard because she has faith that God will fix it. I have no doubt that God will fix everything, just not in the way that men think he will. I have faith that the Bible is true... He will judge sin.

Another sister says it isn't necessary to prepare because she hasn't heard of any failures yet. I'm truely sorry that all the red herrings were put out there (fiscal rollovers, 8/22, 9/9/99, etc.) that had nothing to do with Y2K. My sister believes that if there is going to be a panic, there will be ample warning...HUH?. I promise you, I am from a family of highly educated people...hmmm.

Well, "I am", I believe you are on target, according to God's Word. People have been given strong delusion, inferior (stupid) leadership, the eradication of all morals from the highest realms of society (world wide), and in general, have been the recipients of God's righteous judgement all along...and thankfully His mercy as well. Peolpe will not likely panic until all is gone for the same reason that they cannot see reason today.

May God be very merciful to those who obey Him in the days ahead.

I could see considerable panic in the last days of December...when everyone goes down on December 28th to buy three extra days of food and water...but I am planning for a quiet Christmas! (Well, our usual snorkeling/golf day...)

I would like to know how will God fix it, especially when people are blaming him for getting us into this mess.

One major terrorist event near the rollover will wake them up, the second will make it all come apart at the seams. Dates are not important...

-- Mr. T (treader@dawn.net), September 14, 1999.

What's with this terrorism crap? Does anybody really believe this crap? If we do actually have any terrorist attacks, the ones you should suspect are in the shadow government who want a permanent police state. Militia? Haha.

Tim,

I am not predicting a terrorist incident. I merely stated that it could be a trigger effect if it happened.
