Newspaper logs?

I know this has been asked before but I can't find the information. Does anyone know how to make logs out of newspapers to burn in the fireplace?

Use newspapers or continuous-form computer paper (greenbar). Using computer paper is kind of fitting, isn't it? Roll into the tightest roll you can, starting in your hands and then kneeling on a partial roll while you add successive layers. End up with a log about 3 inches thick.

Put a phillips drive in a 1/4 inch drill, get a bunch of sheetrock screws. Screw in 3 per "log", straight into the middle. You can salvage these after the log is burned, and use again.

Best to mix real wood and these logs, because the paper logs fit together so tightly in the fireplace that they don't get enough air flowing over the surface.

We used to make newspaper logs all the time in the 70's. Roll newspapers around a broomstick (for air flow)until it is about the same thickness as a log. Tie with wire in 3-4 places. Soak in water until soaked through. Dry.
