Greetings from one of the newbies :)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

I saw it briefly mentioned in one of the threads here that most of the folks who were serious about playing here at least introduced themselves so everyone knew who they were up against. :) I just discovered this page a few days ago (after ignoring countless updates about it on Dave's page... Ah well) and decided I'd give it a whirl. I'm awfully late coming into the tournament but I plan to do a little damage before it's all over, heh.

As you can see up there my real name's Brian but I sign my recordings with Taz (for various reasons, but I really need to find a less common nickname ;). Nothing else comes to mind at the moment... So I'll cut it off here and get back to work on Discs of Tron. :) It's good to be here, and thanks for making the page I always wanted to see Zwaxy!

Heh, I'll try. :) Right now I'm just putting up some middle-of-the- road scores to give myself something to work from once I've familiarized myself with all the games (I believe there was a heated discussion on such 'markers' not too long ago ;). In my case it's a bit like taking a 3-hour final exam 2 hours into the test; I need to find out what the easy games are going to be and nail those first before I devote a lot of time to practicing the tougher ones.

As for location, I'm near Dayton, Ohio. One of these days I'll move to someplace that isn't quite so far out in the sticks and get a real 'Net connection, or something. :)

I must have missed that thread about introducing oneself. Oh, well, it's possibly for the best, since I'm not sure I qualify as a "serious" player in any meaning of that word :)! Sure I'm in 6th in the tourney, but that's really better than I expected.

Anyway, even as someone who's only been around since basically the beginning of the tourney, let me also welcome you to the "community". I'm sure I speak for most here that "The more, the merrier" philosophy applies, especially when it brings in a someone who seems very friendly and easy-going, even if they ARE an "middle-of-the- road" player (at the start). Of course, I have to wonder what you consider a "marker" if you think the Dayton area is small. (If the city guide is correct, and the region has about a million in population, you MERELY have about 50 times the people as where I'm connecting from :)!)

Anyway, good luck in the tourney, but try not to pass me in TOO many games, would ya? :)!
