I went to my local Credit Union in NM this afternoon to cash a check and the power was out, just in that building. The tellers were still cashing checks in the dark, but without using the computers. Don't know if related to 9/9/99.

I went to my local Credit Union today, too. Upstate NY. The computers locked up twice during my transaction alone. The teller was frustrated and mentioned the "nines" problem. She said they were told it should be all right after today.

Perhaps this is a good place to point out that Senator Bennett was quoted as saying "If things happen on 9/9/99 - I hope you won't find out". Did anyone really think we'd hear about the glitches? Seems to me, it would have been a better CYA tactic to let the world hear about the glitches and say - see? they got fixed - no big deal. Then when TSHTF they can say - my, we are as surprised as you - it appeared it was going to be fine by the 9/9/99 tests.
