Two for one deal on toilet paper!! Stock up now!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Hey!

I've got the deal of the century for all you delusional doomer dummies!!! Since all you doomers just KNOW that by next January, paper money will be worthless except for use as toilet paper or kindling, I've got a two for one special for you!

You send me one "roll" of United States currency -- yes, those "worthless" fiat dollars -- and I'll send you TWO ROLLS OF TOILET PAPER!!! I'll even send you Charmin Ultra!! AND pay the shipping!

Yeah!!! Hey -- you can NEVER have too much toilet paper can you? You can NEVER have too many "real value" goods to barter with, can you?

Two for one -- with me paying the shipping -- the deal of the millinium!!! I'll even weigh your "rolls" of money just to be sure I give you two for one -- by weight, not just volumne! You can't lose!

P.S. No refunds! All "trades" final! No refunds after 01-01-2000 turns out NOT to be TEOTWAWKI!

Cracker,

Just an observation, but your posts have a lot of emotion behind them. Are you afraid that Y2K might just be a possibility? I think you're in denial and I think you really are afraid of what might happen after the rollover. You're reacting with too much anger for you to just simply be in disagreement about Y2K.

I have a suggestion for you, just face the possibility and start preparing for it. You will feel much more in control and less fearful and angry if you are proactive about the situation.

When I acknowledged the possibility of this happening last year, I was piss off myself. Actually I was afraid, but I worked through my fear by facing up to Y2K and making my preparations.

None of us have a crystal ball, we don't know what's going to happen. But I don't like living my life in fear, I prefer to take control and take care of myself as much as possible. I feel this is good way to live in all situations not just Y2k.

I hope you can get past your fear and find peace.

When I read this post - I instantly got this image of a little school yard bully taunting another kid because he wears glasses.

I have to say this. I have been reading this forum for about two months - posting only when I felt I had something of value to contribute. When I read a silly polly post like yours I always wonder - why does he care? What is it in the human psyche that makes one irritated at another's convictions -enough to taunt and make fun? And if I were to suddenly "see the light" and join the ranks of those who insist being prepared for the unknown is foolish - what would you gain by my conversion? A sense of accomplishment? Relief that someone else takes your view? Would this be more reassuring for you?

I recognised the potential for global crisis in February. I have been slowly making preps to insure that my family can make it for a few months independent of government services - and this makes me -what? nuts? - foolish?- crazy? - stupid? I haven't hurt anyone else, not even you, with my preps but if things go sour I will be able to hold my family together and whomever God might send me to shelter. We have the wherewithall to be out of the way. If I am wrong and nothing happens - my life will go on as planned. If you are wrong and something does happen - God help you - 'cause no one loves a bully.

Nice try Mabel,

But this man isn't in fear. He's a programmer who's worked thru the Y2K issue -- and separated fact from fiction as an "insider" whose Y2K testing all went fine.

Yes there is PASSION in my post, but not emotionalism. I'm not "in denial" -- and I am "at peace".

My post is my response to another thread where the guy walked away from his house, letting it go into forclosure since it won't be worth anything next year due to Y2K, and how money will be "worthless".

And how anybody with a brain "knows" that finacial collapse is coming.

I don't think so, Mrs. Dodge. Your attempt to paint me with the psychobable brush just doesn't wash -- nor apply --I think it's you who are trying to "shoot the messanger" by labeling me as having some sort of "fear" of Y2K behing my "emotional post"....to avoid facing the fact that the doomers are wrong about Y2K -- and the need to stockpile toilet paper!

BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! You're and idiot, lady!!!

And you're wrong! I'm just laughing at all you delusional doomer dummies -- that's laughter you hear -- not fear, stupid.

Cracker,

You know, I actually thought Mabel was wrong, until I read your second post.

Take a deep breath, relax. You still have time to buy some beans...and...um....some toilet paper.

-- Bokonon (bok0non@my-Deja.com), September 09, 1999.

I'm not laughing at you, however, for your viewpoint. This is not an academic issue - we have just over 3 1/2 months before we will have answers. It won't be debatable into infinity. I personally sleep better at night knowing that no matter what the answer is - I have some control over what happens to me and mine because I took this seriously. I read the post about the fellow who walked away from his house. People make choices based on their on situations and I doubt he made this move based entirely on what he read in forums like this.

If you can base your viewpoint on your experience, then why can't I base my opinion on my experience? Our income is tied to overseas manufacturing - it doesn't look good for us next year. Hopefully our preps will see us through until plan B can be implemented. Everyone has a different story and this is the point then, isn't it? You have your experience that convinces you that all will be fine - another has an experience that tells him - something isn't right. Each then is entitled to follow his own instincts. This is one of those rights mentioned in our Constitution, is it not?

BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! You're and idiot, lady!!!

I refrain from correcting the bad spelling of others, since mine stinks. But golly, that's a good one.

Ah, call someone an idiot and concentrate on spelling - now that is an intelligent response. I'm underwhelmed by your cleverness. ;)

Cracker (Polly@allsok.Y2K) a.k.a. Killer (DominantSniper@Yahoo.com),

Don't you EVER get tired of trolling here? As a self-proclaimed banking programmer, you should be ashamed of your actions!

Stop it! Sheesh.
