Microsoft 2000 fixes

I hear Bill Gates is going to make an announcement in a few weeks that the first upgrade release for Windows 2000 will be made available in the first quarter of 1900.

Every single time I go to the Windows Update website, there is a new Win 98 update dealing with y2k fixes. I just did it again this morning. I presume that the patches are for really minor problems (frankly, I have quit inquiring into the details and I just download) but they keep on coming. Go to the update site and check for yourself.

Puddintame...you walked into that one!! Check the date of release in the first post--its a joke, dear heart, a joke!!

Jay, Don't worry, I got your joke. Are you kin to Jay Leno? You have the same first name! (See, my joke writing is on a par with yours!)

My post was to add a little relevant substance to anyone who clicked through. Not only would they experience delightful humor, but they would be educated. I'd say we've done remarkably well at both endeavors.

Jay,

I like it, but I posted it here a few days ago. Not much Y2K related stuff escapes this forum for very long!

Tick... Tock... <:00=

The trouble is, unfortunately, that Microsoft Windows continues to have fixes posted...and we are not all confident that the various versions will be compliant come January 1...even if you manage to apply all of the fixes!

Hmmm...

So, how does a business/agency with thousands of Win/NT PC's (e.g., Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan-~7,000!) cope with all these "daily" Y2K fixes?

The fixes may be "minor" if they don't affect stuff the day-to-day business doesn't depend on. The user may, or may not, discover a "minor" problem until weeks/months later.

This situation was expected. It stinks, though.
