Hold November registration: WIll this work?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

My tabs are due at the end of November and they are almost 1,000-- if the initiative passes (and u know it will!) can I skip registering in November, park my car for a month (in december) and then register 1/3/00 for $30-- or will I still have to pay the grand due in Novem

The state does not allow for partial year licensing. Unless you sell your car buy another one that is licensed after December, you must pay the tabs. Even if you license it in January, they will charge you from November.

This year I upgraded from my 1985 vehicle to a newer 1993 vehicle. I bought the newer vehicle in January. It's tabs were due in November but the previous owner did not license it. Since I paid sales tax in January, I was able to license it. By the way I paid $4100 for it. It had over 135,000 miles on it. The state valued the car close to $10,000. So guess what? I had to pay excise tax on the $10,000.

My question for those opposed to I-695 is this:

"Why do you want to tax working class folks out of the ability to own a NEWER car"?

For another example of the State's outright rape of its citizenry, check out my previous post....sad but true!
