Are you seriously suggesting that existing typewriters and word processors will not work........methinks you're a bit too far overboard if that is what you are suggesting!

I have a cool Underwood typewriter from the '30s or thereabouts. And I have tons of carbon paper. I bought it because I thought it looked good, but hey, it could be useful...!

Craig,

The answer to your question-is on the front of The Washington Times today. Apparently in the school districts in Va.only one is prepared (Arlington county). They have a picture of an administrator holding an old typewriter as her contingency plan. So you tell me!!???

I have pens and paper. Should work.

actually- I just picked up an old manual typewriter for free left over at a yard sale yesterday- also a carpet sweeper, canning jars, foot locker, and stove pipe- all free......

I picked up an old Royal manual (1950's vintage) and a local thrift shop for $35. Found "universal" ribbons (black) at a local typewriter shop (they don't sell typewriters any more, but said they sell about 2 - 3 dozen manual typewriter ribbons annually. I bought six. Took the Royal home, cleaned the strike heads with WD-40 and lubricated (spastically oversprayed) with WD-40 all its underside guts, and voila': a fully Y2K compliant machine-- just like the one I used (and abused) forty years ago.

I'm wondering how folks are going to put in bids? With a manual typewriter? If your PeeCee is down, who gives a sh!t about Ebay?

Ebay will go bust when the Internet experiences its first megacrash.

Then we'll have the Great Garage Sale Renaissance!
