I was out over Labor Day weekend pricing new cars, and it dawned on me that I should wait to purchase it becuase I-695 will make my tab payments lower!

Should I wait to buy a car until after I-695 passes or will it apply if I buy my car before the end of the year? I saw that I-695 will go into effect Jan. 1, 2000, so do I have to wait until after then to get the 30$ tabs?

I want the 30$ tabs and would wait to buy if I need to.

Don't forget the second part of I-695!

With all due respect, I have to wonder whether you, like many of the dutiful citizens in favor of I-695, will follow through if and when it passes and actively vote on every little nook and cranny of our state budget along with all the other I-695 supporters. After all, being a more active citizen is what I-695 is all about, right? And not just getting cheap tabs for your new car?

Sonia- Wait until 1 January. You'll likely save some money. So will the rest of the taxpayers in the state, when the automatic tax increases have to be voted upon.

I mean, THIS November will be a GREAT warm-up for the property tax initiative in November 2000. You know, the one that will make the 695 budget cuts look like spare change?

I have to go along with waiting until at least November 3, so you know if waiting until January may save you some money on MVET. Expect several court cases that could delay implementation of the initiative, however. Several issues will need to go the a court for decision, an it is anyones guess what will actually be in effect until a decision is made. You may need to wait for a model 2001 to know for sure.
