Indeed.

Excellent point LindaO.

Should be interesting to see how the SPINNERS play up the 9/9/99 date occurence. This will provide more evidence of how they intend to proceed.

Well, other than I can't spell "coordinating".

-- LindaO (lindao@hotmail.com), September 07, 1999.

But according to the pollies, this is just "fire insurance", not because anything is really going to happen. They build and outfit centers like this "all the time", just on the 100-1 chance that something might happen. Even though it won't.

Didn't they build centers like this by the boatload during the last twenty years?

LOL, BigDog. Must be one heck of a fire they're not prepping for; insurance is *supposed* to cost less than the replacement value.

Anybody find info on WHO is going to be in this center?

It is a pleasure to stand upon the shore, and to see ships tost upon the sea: a pleasure to stand in the window of a castle, and to see a battle and the adventures thereof below: but no pleasure is comparable to standing upon the vantage ground of truth. . . and to see the errors, and wanderings, and mists, and tempests, in the vale below.

Anita,

Search at info.gov on keywords ICC and/or Information Coordination Center...

http://www.info.gov/ cgi-bin/search_gov

Or read one of the untitled little ICC hits...

STATEMENT OF JOHN KOSKINEN
CHAIRMAN
PRESIDENTS COUNCIL ON YEAR 2000 CONVERSION
BEFORE THE
SPECIAL COMMITTEE ON THE YEAR 2000 TECHNOLOGY PROBLEM
UNITED STATES SENATE
July 29, 1999

http:// www.y2k.gov/council/JKTE072999.htm

...I am pleased to appear before the Committee to discuss information collection activities during the Year 2000 date rollover, and to describe the important role the Information Coordination Center will play for the Presidents Council on Year 2000 Conversion (the Council), and for the Federal Government, in this critical area. ...

BTW, the ICC is also hiring Y2K Analysts, but I can't remember the thread title.

Yeah, Diane, why're they hiring people for just a three-day job?

That's not enough time to sign up for insurance or even figure out where the copiers are.

-- lisa (lisa@work.now), September 07, 1999.

Some new stuff is up at the Navy CIO page. One is a pdf of a briefing given by Gen. Kind concerning the ICC:

http://www.doncio.navy.mil/y2k/GenKindBrief-ICC.pdf

Nothing startling at first glance. Seems to be describing their reporting methodolgy.

Anyone have time for a detailed read? Got work to do...

Lisa - Yeah, Diane, why're they hiring people for just a three-day job? That's not enough time to sign up for insurance or even figure out where the copiers are.

That's okay.. the insurance companies aren't compliant and the copiers won't be working without electricity.

But I love the fact that we need to have our information COORDINATED in the new Millennium. Is that coordinated like laser light is coordinated? Coming from a single source like a ruby RED laser light... with no stray uncoordinated beams of information to muddy the picture? The internet is much too uncoordinated.. way too many sources for the information, and way too many directions that inforamtion can lead you. Thanks Kosky for straightening it all out for us. Might want to get Gore involved. Since he invented the internet I'm sure he can provide some valuable insight on how to coordinate it.
