They have preseason football on tonight in the Los Angeles area (Channel 2 here). :( And I assume you meant to say 9/3 and not 8/3... :)

Wow! Came home and caught my DWGI wife watching this special with one of my kids. Most impressive Y2K television piece I've seen to date. Surpassed 60 minutes and C-SPAN coverage thus far. Quite impressive for a local station, makes me a little suspect! Show aired on KIRO 7 Eyewitness News (Cox Broadcasting) out of Seattle. Those that watched the whole show should have some level of concern. The community of Whidbey Island seems to have taken their preparedness to a level unseen thus far anywhere in the nation! Show must have been seen by a good portion of the Pacific Northwest and Alaska! Portrayed those preparing as rational and the proper thing to do, not nuts! I think it was KIRO 7 that also gave the most thorough reporting of the Bellingham disaster.

I gave it a **** (four exlosions rating)! Hope we see more coverage like this in the future, throughout the country. I guess I'll find out shortly if it made contact with my wife!

Snowleopard

If I am right you are north of 60? And you seen it? To cool!
I wrote a few comments on the show, as I live in the area, it was interesting to see what folks are doing 20 miles from me, (Whidbey Island).

CBS Y2K show from Seattle, a few words about it.

It was a very west coast show eh? I would doubt that a show with such a "prep" focus will be shown in other places.

One thing that intrigued me was that there wasn't any mention of earthquakes, and we are due for a 9 +. It would seem to rationalize the Whidbey Island folk as they would have serious transportation problems if the docks were damaged.

I have lived in the north (Yukon and NWT). Transportation is taken for granted but it is a serious risk. Shipping seems to be problem, our ferries to our island aren't compliant and that is with the most modern vessels. What else is going to screw up.

Alaska tankers travel within 10 miles of my house. And you know their priorities.

As you mentioned the show had a strong prep focus and except for Mitch Radcliff no silly polly attitude.

I agree with your call.
