Tragedy, grief and preparations

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Preparation Forum : One Thread

My family has just been trough a very bad time. Although it is not over, I can cope a little better now. I don't know what the family would have done without my y2k preparations. Noone was in any shape to think about shopping for food or household supplies. I still cannot bring myself to concentrate on re-stocking the pantry just yet. If I had not been prepared, I know for a fact that the family would have had more to worry about, adding to the stress. When you are faced with grief and trouble it is impossible to think rationally and do what is needed. I will always stay prepared and keep stocking up even if y2k is just a bump. I have experienced first hand how important being prepared can be for any situation.

Carol,

Sorry to hear about Tragedy. I am, however, very glad that you had preps and that they indeed did help.

Big cyber *HUG* to you. I know it isn't much, but my thoughts are with you.

Carol, I'm sorry to hear about your situation and am glad that it sounds like you are seeing light at the end of the tunnel. It is so important for people to realize that Carol's situation is the real reason to be prepared and have a well stocked panty. Y2K is only one in a long list of problems that can cause a family to need food and other goods for a prolonged period of time. Unexpected illness, death, loss of a job, financial losses, floods, earthquakes, Y2K... Carol's work and preparations have been a blessing to her and her family in their time of need. It is amazing that so few can or will see this. Present readers excepted.

Smfdoc: "a well stocked panty" ?!?!?

"Panty" or "Pantry." While both are useful they are hardly interchangable. I guess I will go with pantry.
