How best to crop

greenspun.com : LUSENET : General Photo Critique : One Thread

Please give me your thoughts about cropping this image. I am inclined to crop out the bottom 1/4 or so. I cannot decide wheather the sand is to much of an element as it is. I don't know if this is the right way to link with my homepage, so if not please forgive.Thanks. http://homepages.msn.com/HobbyCt/dbm1943/

I find the grass in the foreground distracting and would follow your inclination and crop off bottom portion.

This same image was extensive critiqued on www.photocritique.net when submitted on 3 June. It is indeed a fine photo, and I used it as my wallpaper for 2 weeks. I don't think the cropping suggestions you will get in this forum will be any different from those you got before: either remove the grass, or possibly include more to balance the image.

If anything, I would crop from the top to balance the image vertically. I think the sand (or is it really grass?) in the foreground makes this photo so bright and interesting.
