OT Would you trust this man to be your next president?

George W. Bush used cocaine. The evidence for it is captured on his face and in his words as if he still had a powder trail under his nose. GOP: Character No Longer A Factor

When the GOP finally had a chance to prove to the nation that "character really does count,"they wimped out. They have fallen in behind a candidate who has amply demonstrated that his policy to deal with tough questions is to evade them with carefully planned answers.

Have you ever used cocaine, Governor Bush?

My, that is a rather straightforward question. It would seem to be the perfect question for an easy yes or no response. One certainly can't accuse the press of trickery or tomfoolery with such a clean and simply worded inquiry.

We all know what happened next - - - G W Bush fed us the ridiculous answer that he could pass the seven-year cocaine free timespan for White House staff.

Then his answer kept stretching further and further as GeeDubbya found out that the standards were fifteen years for some lower level Justice Dept positions. Finally, G W Bush clammed up when he found out that the guidelines in both his father's and the Clinton White House allowed for zero cocaine use back to 18 years of age.

If his supporters had had a lick of character themselves they would have slapped him silly.

As it was they sold out their own souls to save him. G W Supporters who had been chanting such anti-drug rhetoric as "build more prisons" and "lock em up, lock em all up" now found themselves saying, "Cocaine doesn't really matter." That is right, these get tough on drug demons had suddenly seen the light and become compassionate conservatives (now you know why the term had to be coined).

Yes, for years these now proven hypocrites screamed "Just say no." So now what do they do? They pick a candidate who just can't say no to drugs.

Even worse for G W Bush and his cronies is the fact that Dubbya can say yes to locking up even young kids for drugs. In fact fourteen-year-old children who are arrested with cocaine --any amount, no matter how slight--now face charges as adults and may be sent to adult facilities to serve their sentences. When they get out even if they are fortunate enough not to have been repeatedly raped and beaten they will still carry the scars of their teen years having been spent behind bars and the weighty chains of a felony conviction locked around their neck for life. And don't forget that these are Texas rat-hole jails and prisons.

It is a safe bet that they'll never run for president--because felons lose their rights to vote and hold office.

y2k dave:

FYI: Being a felon is not a bar to running for president (I THINK its not for Senator or Representative either - but not as sure about those). Its mainly a bar to state offices, definitely not President of the US. No Joke.

Felons regain the right to vote after they're off probation/parole.

My biggest concern would be what a history of drug use/experimentation says about his level of potential recklessness. Is that attitude truly in his past?

Is it just me or have certain elements turned this forum into a discussion forum on WACO, right-wing attacks on the President, CHINA, and other OT subjects? I believe these OT subjects have gotten way out of hand in a manner that is not conducive to the overall discussion of Y2K. Let's stick to the subject here at hand.

there are unfortunately a lot of idiots on the board that don't or choose not to realise that a power struggle is going on. Hillary has declared herself as a presidential candidate for 2000 - this has not been widely publicised.

The Bush faction is very very powerful and are pushing for junior to take over.

I don't believe there will be elections in 2000 due to martial law due to computer snafus and/or manufactured "situations" - I can quite easily see a repeat off an old trick they played in the 60's, Clinton assassinated, his VP steps up and nominates the real future king as HIS VP...

Another example what's OK for those in power is not OK for the rest of us.

Wake up people, this war is cause more damage than the drugs are. An entire generation of youngsters who have made a youthful mistake are having their lives ruined, not by the drugs, but by the consequences of being caught with them. Doing drugs is not good for you, but I suspect that hard prison time is worse, coupled with the fact that after your "debt" is paid, nobody wants to hire you. What then for these people? Doesn't that saddle them into a life of crime? Look back at alcohol prohibition and it's effect on our society, and compare it to the current mess. What a waste.

Keep in mind, there has not been one single person not one who has stepped forward to make any claim that they have knowledge of any past cocaine use by George W. Bush. Yet the media continues to press the issue. After all, didnt Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle give them their clear marching orders on this matter several weeks ago?

But what about Clinton? Have there been any people to step forward and charge him with cocaine use? You bet there has. Heres a list from NewsMax.com

1. Gennifer Flowers. O.K., she may be somewhat of a tramp --- carrying on that long-term affair with Clinton --- but recent years have shown us that she is more prone to tell the truth than her ex-boyfriend is. Flowers claimed on August 6th that Clinton used a "substantial amount" of cocaine in her presence.

2. Sharline Wilson --- Former drug dealer in Little Rock. In sealed testimony reported to have said that Clinton used cocaine in her presence. I watched Bill Clinton lean up against a brick wall . He casually stuck my tooter [a "one-hitter"] up his nose. He was so messed up that night, he just slid down the wall into a garbage can and just sat there like a complete idiot."

3. Roger Clinton --- the First Brother. Reported to have told a drug dealer that his brother had "a nose like a vacuum cleaner." This exchange was captured on a police surveillance videotape.

4. Sally Perdue --- A former Clinton lover. Told reporters that Clinton used cocaine in her presence. "He had the equipment laid out, like a real pro." Perdue currently lives in China. How interesting.

5. L.D. Brown --- Former Clinton bodyguard. Brown told reporters of his suspicions that Clinton used "nose candy."

6. Jane Parks --- Onetime landlady to Roger Clinton. Alleges drug use at "parties" at Roger Clintons apartment. Says she could hear Clintons voice discussing the quality of the cocaine as it was passed around.

There are others. The point, though, is that there are many allegations of cocaine use by Bill Clinton, yet the media refuses to pursue the story. There are no such allegations of cocaine use by GWBJr., yet the media wont let the issue die.

Anyone can recognize this double standard.

See www.boortz.com; [Neal's News] for 9/2/1999.

In the future, please acknowledge the original source there of your otherwise excellent comments about this poster's hypocrisy:

There are NO allegations he has ever used cocaine, no evidence (other than your biased conclusions based on NO evidence!) of any use, nor any eyewitnesses. Yet he immediately rants about Republicans, ignoring the real corruption and drug use by Clinton, as was once written a long time ago "the beam in one's own eye..."

I agree. If GW Bush cannot answer a straight question, then what is he hiding? IMHO he is no better than Billy Boy Clinton. I'm really getting tired of "legacy" candidates such as Bush and Gore. Our country deserves better.

Robert, I've always respected your posts as being insightfull and on target but this time I think you've missed the point.

NEWS FROM THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY

- From wife-beaters to drunk drivers,Congress is a crime wave, study says WASHINGTON, DC -- A new investigation reveals an astonishingly large number of wife-beaters, drunks, shoplifters, check-bouncers, business failures, and drug abusers in the U.S. House and Senate -- which ought to make Americans think carefully before turning to Washington, DC for moral leadership, the Libertarian Partysaid today. "Mark Twain once said Congress may be America's only 'distinct criminal class' -- and this new study suggests he was correct," said Steve Dasbach, the party's national director. "If even half these charges are true, expecting Congress to serve as a moral role model is like asking Bill Clinton to serve as a poster boy formonogamy." According to an investigation by Capitol Hill Blue, an online publication that covers federal politics, a remarkable number of U.S. Representatives and U.S. Senators may have spent as much time in a jail cell as on Capitol Hill. After researching public records, newspaper articles, civil court transcripts, and criminal records, Capitol Hill Blue discoveredthat: * 29 members of Congress have been accused of spousal abuse. * 7 have been arrested for fraud. * 19 have been accused of writing bad checks. * 117 have bankrupted at least two businesses. * 3 have been arrested for assault. * 71 have credit reports so bad they can't qualify for a credit card.

* 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges. * 8 have been arrested for shoplifting. * 21 are current defendants in lawsuits. * And in 1998 alone, 84 were stopped for drunk driving, but released after they claimed Congressional immunity. Capitol Hill Blue did not list the names of all the individual members of Congress accused of the various crimes, but did note that some were "serial offenders" with extensive tracks records of fraud or violence. For example, reported Capitol Hill Blue, Rep. Corrine Brown (D-FL) has a "long, consistent record of deceit," including tens of thousands of dollars in unpaid bills, allegations of bribery, and numerous lawsuits against her. And Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA) faces charges that he beat his wife, has a history of barroom brawls while mayor of Alexandria, and has publicly stated that he likes "to hitpeople." "With a rap sheet like that, you have to wonder why Americans expect Congress to solve the problem of crime -- since Congress seems to be causing so much crime," said Dasbach. "In fact, if this study is correct, the best way to cut crime may be to lock up Congress and throw away the key." And given the obvious economic incompetence of so many Senators and Representatives, you have to wonder why voters trust them with the federal budget, he said. "Here are politicians who routinely bankrupt businesses, write bad checks, engage in fraudulent practices, and have bad credit," said Dasbach. "That could explain why the country is more than $5 trillion in debt, why federal programs are so wasteful, and why taxes are always going up. Are these really the kind of economically illiterate people we want to trust with our money?" If nothing else, said Dasbach, the Capitol Hill Blue investigation may help puncture the myth that Senators and Representatives are somehow superior to ordinary Americans, or better equipped to solve the nation's problems. "By its very nature, politics tends to attract venal people who crave power, who want to control the lives of other people, and who think they are above the law," he noted. "This study makes that point clear -- and illustrates that when it comes to politicians, the only thing worse than their voting records are their criminal records."

No problem! Based on the standards set by the incumbent president, we can elect almost anybody!

-- Mad Monk (madmonk@hawaiian.net), September 02, 1999.

I'm going to have to be REAL desperate on election day to vote for GWBush. Just give me the chance to vote for Alan Keyes or Pat Buchanan.

I think that the Democrats already have a few people lined up who will claim that the SAW GW do Cocaine or was WITH him when he partied or something like that. The dems are just waiting for GW to admit or deny. If he denies they will trot out the circus and set up the tents and conduct a lengthy trial in the newspapers and on the soundbite 6o'clock news. We'll never hear the end of it. They'll scream from one end of hell to the other that GW is a liar and the Republican are hypocrites.

"Keep in mind, there has not been one single person not one who has stepped forward to make any claim that they have knowledge of any past cocaine use by George W. Bush."

That's because THEY were snorting it WITH him! Problem is we don't have a Kenneth Starr against Republicans. He would never grant immunity to someone who stepped forward to testify against Bush. What we need is another scumbag with no morals like Linda Tripp to try to lure Bush into a self-destructive admission.

@,

Now that you bring her up, (Tripp), I would like to take advantage of this opportunity to ask you to please donate to Linda Tripp's defense fund, at Lucianne.com. [g]

Does anybody rememer what happened when someone was asked "Did you have a sexual relationship with Monica? the whole issues here is not whether or not G Willie Bush snorted coke, its his refusal to answer the question that is the issue. All 12 presidential candidates were asked whether or not they have used pot or cocaine. Only one refused to answer that question. WHY? I could care less about ones recreational drug use so long as it does not interfere with the duties and job the person is doing and that it does not interfere with me personally. SO just answer the question.

to "a":

Nobody had stepped forward to accuse GW of snorting anything yet not because they weren't WITH him or AROUND him if and when he was doing it. Nobody has stepped forward yet because the Democrats are just waiting for him to admit or deny. The longer this thing simmers the worse it gets for GW and the better for any potential Democrat running against GW.

If GW deny's, THEN, and ONLY THEN, will you see people step forward. Or, if it is close to the election and still no admission, then you might see a last minute bomb shell that will delight the press in a feeding frenzy.

Here I am, stepping forward. The ONE PERSON who knows the truth. 'Cause I was there WITH G.W. back at Highland Park High School, in Highland Park, a suburb of Dallas. It was back in my high school years. Also, obviously, in GW's high school years as well, or else why would he have been there with me under the bleachers?

I can tell ya, I know ABSOLUTELY, and FOR CERTAIN whether or not G.W. sucked up a big long line of "PURA COCA" with me and the other kids.

But I won't tell. heh heh.
