'Haven't had time to "lurk" in a few days, so I don't know if this has been posted. Apologies if it has. Apparently the public availability of this (and other country status reports) reports is recent?

FM,

I haven't seen this before. Thanks for posting it. Again it looks as if health care is the sector making the slowest Y2K progress.

Thank you FM. Do any of these agencies or industries use IBM products?

Here's an interesting little follow up for all of you "Y2k Analysts." [grin]

OPEN LETTER TO Y2K ANALYSTS

August 26, 1999

As the nations of the world make preparations for the Y2K date change 127 days from now, the public is increasingly seeking accurate and objective Y2K readiness information. Accordingly, those who publish evaluations of nations' readiness bear a special responsibility to use all sources of information.

The International Y2K Cooperation Center (IY2KCC) has today taken action to increase public awareness of international Y2K preparations, and to provide Y2K analysts with unfiltered information, straight from the people who have been working on the Y2K problem in each nation. We have published on the World Wide Web, at www.iy2kcc.org, the detailed readiness statements of the national Y2K coordinators in 72 countries. The readiness statements will be updated periodically as additional countries respond.

In addition to taking into account this survey information, all evaluations should reflect direct consultations with each affected country's Y2K coordinator. These coordinators can be located via the Center's web page.

We are confident that we share the common goal of providing complete and balanced Y2K information. The IY2KCC and the national Y2K coordinators look forward to working with you to achieve this goal.

Very truly yours,

[signed]

One other observation/question:

The report references the term

Testing (End-to-End)

Please correct me if I'm misinformed [honest, I won't mind! grin], but I thought the energy/power sector (at least electric) had no plans to CONDUCT end-to-end testing?

:)
