Why don't you all see what the State government has to say about it

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

But there is one MAJOR difference in what the State says and what all you paranoiacs are beating your chests and pulling your hair about.

The State says these things could POSSIBLY happen and all of you are saying THIS IS going to happen.. Hurry hurry read all about it http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/I-695/

Of course the State has many options open and should have no problem learning to deal with reality.

Or you could see what one particular local government has to say about it. Carnation is a small town in King County. Interesting how you all say that I-695 is no big deal for small towns. This small town disagrees.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARNATION, KING COUNTY, WASHING-TON, TAKING A POSITION OF OPPOSITION TO I 695- TAX LIMITATION AND MOTOR VEHICLE EXCISE TAX INITIATIVE.

WHEREAS, analysis conducted by the Association of Washington Cities has indicated a loss of approximately $197,000 to the City of Carnation in municipal revenues over the next 5 years, which can be directly attributed to the loss of the Motor Vehicle Excise Tax (MVET); and

What a surprise!! Politicians who believe that they know how to spend OUR money better than we do!! Who would have thought!

Hey look, I've got no problem if the legislature wants to allocate money to the cities for sales tax equalization to offset the fact that some cities don't get the normal per capita amount of sales tax. Why don't we fund that out of (hmmm) ............ the SALES

Greg, Carnation is a town with a whopping 1700 people. If these politicians were so bad, or as removed from the electorate as you're implying they are, they would have been gone long ago.

Sorry my friend, not all politicians are totally removed from the people, as much as you like to imply that they are.
