MAME32 exiting while recording a game

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

Until just recently, MAME32 V0.35 worked fine for me. Now, every now and then, it simply exits completely (so I don't even go back to the GUI) while playing a game. This only seems to happen when I am recording the game I am playing, and it only happens intermittently, always at different stages in the games, and it seems it can happen in any game. I have not made any system changes to my system since then.

Sometimes after it has happened, when I immediately start MAME32 again and start recording again, it works fine, sometimes not. Rebooting the system does not seem to have any positive or negative effect either.

Has anybody encountered this before? Has anybody found a way to prevent this from happening?

Thanks. Cheers, Ben Jos.

I found that now I've changed using Seal with DirectSound into plain DirectSound, it does not crash anymore. Until recently, I didn't do very much recording either, so I guess it only happened while using the Seal/DirectSound combination *while recording*. It also always happened fairly early on in the recordings, so if I made it past 10 minutes or so without crashing, it wouldn't crash anymore.

Just thought I'd report this. Cheers, Ben Jos.
