Supposing, that the GI's are correct on all accounts...if one has a few thousand bucks withdrawn ahead of time and stashed, wouldn't it be wise to keep it in smaller denominations rather than 50's and 100's? Don't you agree that in really hard times, spending 100 dollar bills would be like flashing the "blue light special" to the fact that you are a "have" to all the "have nots?"

Yes, especially since -- if deflation but Gov't still functioning -- a $1 might get what $5, $10, $20 does now.

If cash is in short supply, some sellers might choose not to have change available. If you don't have anything smaller than a $20, and all you want is a loaf of bread, you'll either have to buy enough stuff to make up the difference, or lose your change. I don't think I'd keep anything bigger than a $10.

I've been stashing my pocket change for years. (It adds up in Canada, with the $1 and $2 coins.) I used to put it in a special bank account for vacations, etc, but about a year ago, I started keeping it. So I'll be able to provide the exact change for anything I wish to purchase. If it turns out that I don't need it, I'll just deposit it back in the bank, and use it for a digital camera or something.

We won't need cash, as we will become a cashless society worldwide. Everyone will have a microchip embedded in either their foreheads or right palm of their hands. At least those that wish to participate in the system. All others will be destroyed! All of your financial data, as well as personal data will be stored in the chip. For example, you work at job X and earn X number of "credits". When you go shopping for groceries, a hand held scanner will scan either the chip in your forehead or hand, and deduct "X" number of credits from those that you have accumulated, and automatically update the information in the chip for your next transaction. The government has been working on this for years. First, monkeys, and then jet pilots. With jet pilots they found a quicker response time in emergencies. For Joe and Jane Citizen, they just keep track of you all the time.
