Well, then as the murderer in Macbeth said:

"Let it come down!"

If Mr. Lord is correct and the government manages to keep the lid on, then it will all come down on 01/01/00. After that, I think folks will be disinclined to vote for the Rs and Ds who put them in this mess and lied to them consistently.

Perhaps this is the long awaited break that the political fringe has needed to make inroads with large numbers of the electorate? Maybe we'll have a Libertarian, Populist, or Socialist government elected in 2000? Maybe the U.S. Taxpayer's Party or even the Reform Party will have the next term in the White House...

As for me, I'm still hoping to get that month or two vacation from work this winter, but not optimistic that I'll actually get it.
