My latest Y2K Song

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Thank you for coming out tonight. It's good to be here.

This song is dedicated to the thousands of code busters out there...

Sworn to silence as to the true nature of the problem... And too busy working on it to make their own preparations.

Special thanks to "The Who" for their song "Behind Blue Eyes" for the inspiration.

(clears throat) Here goes:

No one knows what its like To be the meek man, To be the geek man Behind four-eyes.

No one knows what its like To be hated, To be fated To covering up the lies.

But my dreams, They arent as crazy As my paycheck Seems to be.

I spend hours Re-mediating With a vengeance, I never sleep.

No one knows what its like To hide these feelings That were through-- Im not allowed to!

No one dares cross the boss Or his anger None of my panic mode Can show through

But my dreams They arent as crazy As my paycheck Seems to be.

I spend hours Counting money, But I cant spend it-- Im never free.

(chorus)

When Y2K comes, Call me over, Before I starve Or lose my cool.

And if I cry, Please tell me some good news Before I die Or act the fool

And if I swallow Tainted water Stick your finger down my throat And if I shiver, let me buy your blanket Keep me warm, let me buy your coat.

No one knows what its like To be the meek man To be the geek man Behind four-eyes

Ahhh, truly makes one lament the decline of the classics! Great lyrics to great memories of old!!

I still havent figured out how to post in this group properly. It came out fine in csy2k.

It should have looked more like a poem...

Am I supposed to put < br > after every phrase?

Anyway... Also, how do you guys make your webpage links "clickable?"

I just put on "Who's Next" and sang along using these words.

Brilliant!

Hey, what about "The Punk Meets the Godfather"? ("The Geek Meets the Spinmeister"?)

"You declared it could be two digits longer, you only became what we made you...

Duane: You may take a deep bow now...Bravo, bravo!

Okay, here's mine:

Sung to: There's a Bad Moon on the Rise:

I see the year 2000 rising

I know the bug is on the way

Oh...stock up on that rice

Double Zero's gonna take our lives

Computer meltdown on the way...

And, for those obsessed with the Anti-Christ...

Sung to: Henry the 8th

I'm the Anti Christ I am,

Satan the Anti Christ I am,

I'm coming down in less than a year

666 I'm gonna...make you wear,

And everyone will be ferried

Over to the river of the damned!

I'm a mean old man

I'm satan,

Satan the man...I am! (second verse same as the first)

You know, a collection of all these song lyrics will be a wonderful thing for historians to study in, say, 100 years! Capturing the mood of the times and all that.

Y'all are great!

Answer - yes

The HTML looks like this (absent the space preceding and following the >)

< a href="http://www.freeyellow.com/members5/8002000bug/page2.html" >Duane's webpage< /a >

Duane' s webpage Well, sh*t. I'll try to fix it now. If this doesn't do it, someone else will need to bail me out.
