I'm not claiming to be an expert but I keep hearing that there are around 50 billion chips in use. Out of theese I've heard anywhere from .1% to 12% of them won't handle the 00. Whichever the case, that's alot isn't it?

As far as "critical dates" go, on 1-1-99 my mothers vcr reset. Had to redo all the daily programming shit, that was real not imagined(pro). Considering all the programmers that say the whole 99 issue is irrelevent because few if anyone uses that as a "terminate" code, there were still some problems on 1-1-99(taxi meters and such). Granted they were few but still some, and THAT problem (the 99 thingy) was supposed to be virtually non-existant.

What do you think is gonna happen when the REAL problem of firmware processors not handling the 00 happens? By any sane persons logic, they WILL fail. The only question to ask is HOW MANY and WHERE. Any thoughts? Cause thats a shitload of stuff to quit all at once.
