Is the .gov spin on the Navy report to keep our enemies on their toes?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

We have made a few enemies in the world lately. We've had much talk here about what they may do. The .mil has been saying ready, ready, ready. Do you think it's possible that the report is "real," but since it went big-time so quickly, the .gov just had to jump on it, to convience the rest of the world that we really are "ready?" Any comments?

Tick... Tock.. <:00=

Only if our enemies don't have access to the Net. Bin Laden, reading our forum, hmmmmmmmmm. Only the sheeple will fall for the spin. The Internet Y2K crowd knows better. Terrorists are far smarter than the average citizen. Don't think so, but could always be wrong (just not very often, LOL)!

1) We know that the Navy report was real...JK admitted this.

2) We know that the U.S. military is working hard to have all major weapon systems up...knowing that we can't afford to be caught with our "pants down."

3) Admitting weakness (or exposing a hypothetical weakness) could cause rogue nations to attack the U.S. or allies. Unless we want to sucker somebody in, this is not a good idea.

Therefore, the military should deny it...

Will,

But it's not just our forum. Do a search for Y2K on Yahoo or Dogpile news. Half of the links are either the original report, or the Navy's denial. It was on CBS, CNN, Art Bell, etc. That's what I mean by big-time. <:)=

I know sysman. but if the info was available through a US credit union's national trade organization's website (according to Lewis), any government or terrorist group could have had access to it before. Who knows where else we have sensitive documents available via the Internet. Public mainstream statements are going to be sucked up by the public only. They lost control of all military information long ago. China has most of it already. We have 15 year old kids breaking into the DOD systems, messages being left on Billy-boy's whitehouse system, hackers leaving photos and messages on the FBI's system. They just stripped the director of the CIA of his passwords and codes due to finding sensitive info on his personal home system. Do you think a -snip- on NBC or a few announcements in mainstream media would have any chance of convincing our enemies we're AOK? I don't think so. The spin is sheeple grain. Calm the masses (and every utility that was made to look stupid and dishonest).

Any decent Y2K site (and we're primo) will be tearing this BS apart and keeping the truth on track. If they can find 'Cammies Are Us' with some help from Yahoo, they have access to everything WE know and way more. Did it make your heart skip a beat when you read it? Koskinen was found lying on his office floor, out cold, with his mouse still in his hand, clicking nearvously, muttering, "spin....spinnnn".

:)

OK Will, so I guess we agree here?

Anyway, I gotta crash. It's 3:45 AM here, and I just had 26 people at my place for a birthday party for an old friend. Still have a few in the living room and spare bedroom. Suckers made me miss the NYC meeting!

See ya'll later. Have a nice what's left of the weekend... <:)=

Will Continue,

Great commentary and overview stated just above. If you *do* decide to run for president during the coming tough times, you've got my vote. ;-)
