Identity of Duncan Phyfe Style piecrust scalloped top tea table

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Exchange: A Forum for Antiques and The Arts : One Thread

I would like to find out the origin of a Duncan Phyfe style piecrust scalloped circular top tea table with a lyre base and four legs with brass paw feet. There is a bit of a decal still showing, but there are no other markings. The decal seems to include a lady looking at furniture(?) I note that the table can be taken apart into 3 sections-- the base with the 4 legs, the center section with the lyre, and the top. Also, I note that two of the four legs are spliced. I've read that this is a copy style or trait that Ernest F. Hagen used. I understand that Duncan Phyfe himself almost never spliced the legs.

I am inclined to believe the table I have is a recent manufacture considering the take-apart construction which would seem indicative of present day shipping features.

Any opinions or suggestions would be appreciated. I admit to knowing virtually nothing regarding antiques. Thank you Bob Haws
