Since 5pm pdt no airliner traffic over my house which normally has a plane overhead every 15 minutes whats up

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

It is now past 8:30 and there hasnt been one airliner fly over head since 5pm only an occasional small prop plane. This is highly unusual for my area. I am in between a major flt pattern for both long beach airport and John wayne airport. On Saturday night the sky's are always loaded with jet traffic. Wonder if a slowdown in airtraffic has happened for these first few hours of the gps rollover. Any one else notice a decrease in jetliner traffic.

Noticed power clitch at 11 am this morning, suspect that it is when they transistioned the power grid to a back up timing source. Well done Electric power guys thanks for all your diligent work in keeping the power up and running smooth thru the rollover. Good work and thanks.

Thanks also goes out to the phone company guys and gals also well done. Switch over was accomplished with no loss of service. well done. Your hard work was sucessful. Makes me a little more hopefull for the y2k. Although the y2k challenge is megatimes greater this successful crossing of the Gps rollover is very welcome good news.

You really need to express your thanks to Maria, she did a great job, didn't she? [applause] And even as I type, I understand that she is doing some final testing of the airplanes before giving them her Y2K-AOK seal of approval. [more applause] Gawd, isn't Maria terrific, lets hear it for Maria!!! [applause; "Yea Maria!"; "You go girl!"]

Mike...I didn't know you were that close to me. I haven't heard anything out of Long Beach all day... kinda interesting, they fly over my house all the time.

By the way, I heard today that the CalTrans camera monitoring system was down. No reason given on the radio.

Mike

Seems Palmdale ATC just fired up its new computer system which proceded to crash and cause cancellation of flights for hours. Apparently they control traffic into all 5 of your local airports.

However, that happened last Thursday. I wonder if they're still fixing it?

It's probably due to a shift in the wind direction causing planes to approach and depart from a different angle. This may not be it, but it was the cause when I lived by an airport.

Heck, call the airport and ask them --- but that really wouldn't work for you, would it? After all, you just KNOW that "they" will lie to you and not admit that Y2K is HERE! NOW!! 130 days early!!!

Seriously, why don't you just drive to the airport and see that planes are arriving and departing like normal. But before you come back here and report that all the planes are flying in and out from a different direction, and therefore MUST!!!! be carrying NWO/UN troops for King Klinton's martial law takeover, please DO go into the airport terminal (leaving your assault rifle in the pick up), and DO see that it's just normal forlk getting on and off the departing and ariving flights.

BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!

mike, you should adjust your tinfoil cap. It is disrupting the aproach becaons and traffic is being re-routed.

Please tilt your head 84.7° to the north.

Thank you.
