Over pessimistic?? Isn't it the military's job to anticipate the worst case ?

When we were in the throws of the cold war - the USSR was our "enemy". THey had nuclear warheads pointed our direction. They were a threat to our America. So we made up more weapons than we believed thay had - unilateral distruction combined with unilateral "we probably better not."

No one at that time said that we were "over-reacting" to the Russian threat. It was deemed necesary to show our strength, our readiness, our preparedness.

O.K. Now we have this report which states that many naval bases are located too close to 7-11's and may turn to toast.

Our fine government says - oh, we were just over-pessimistic.

Isn't that the military's job - to be overly prepared. To look into the future and see if there are threats.

SO WHAT!

Now if the spin-meisters were to take another approach . . .

OK, Yes, these reports are real. OUr assessment is real of these areas in a worst case senerio. We, your military, need to be more prepared than you, J.Q.6Pack (aka sheeple). If the worst happens, then we need to be able to know where the weaknesses lie in the American system to protect you (see sheeple above), be able to overcome any hostile efforts, and protect our American freedoms.

(at this point, military trumpets sound a great triumph and a bald eagle, in front of old Glory, rises up with a fat lamb in each talon!)

Once again, however, the powers that be are calm rather than encourage. To lie and spin rather than to guide and lead.

nuff for now
