Would you like to know what the Navy thinks of us?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

The now infamous Navy website has a section called Y2K Lite, you may want to know what they think of "Gary South" or for that matter any of us taking Y2K seriously. Do follow the links at the bottom of the Gary South thread!

This is the group that knows what cities their bases are in may meltdown?

Wow,

Sitting on my preps I can honestly say I found the site very funny...... I know, I know, it won't be funny if hard times hit but today, it is funny.

Cracker are you on Michael Hyatt? Couldn't get back in after checking Navy site--now getting the message: "misdirected request error-URL not available on this server" I'm using a bookmark- WAZ-UP I wonder??????????

Anyway--Here's what's funny on that Navy site, found this in their "Contingency Plan" at the bottom of the page...

Commander, Naval Facilities Engineering Command (COMNAVFACENGCOM) has conducted detailed surveys and audits of utility companies that supply power, gas, water, and waste water services to Navy bases, both in CONUS and OCONUS. No major Y2K-related vulnerabilities have been identified for utility providers in the continental United States (CONUS).

Note that contingency plan page was updated today, on the heels of the now wide-spread news story!

I sure hope Hyatt's site didn't get yanked. He made no bones about how p.o.'ed he is at the Navy Report cover-up. Maybe it's just a lot of extra traffic. Charli

RUOK says on another thread, and I totally resonate with this..

cgbg jr, There was one more option for Koskinen---Ignore Jim Lord AND ignore the story. Based on past history, this would have been his normal response. By deviating from his norm this was elevated to mainstream media status overnight. Even so, given that the media has often completely ignored major Y2K stories, it's odd that they picked up on this one at all, let alone so quickly. Something really does seem "off" about this. Of course, it could all be coincidental and totally benign....but. Suppose the story is a "plant" deliberately leaked to Jim Lord---and Kosky, by not ignoring it, is behaving strangely. Because the media is also behaving strangely, some high-level manipulation could have been involved. If it's a trial balloon to see how the citizens would react to this kind of information becoming public, it would require the participation of the media. Kosky could now allow the line to unreel just far enough to test the waters...THEN completely and irrevocably disprove the story, discredit Jim Lord, make the media hyper-reluctant to print ANY further Y2K stories, and reaffirm the impression that those who are preparing (by "hoarding" and taking money out of the bank) are dangerous whackos...all in one fell swoop! Now, that WOULD be convenient.

Charli, Hyatt's site is down, but believe it is technical problems, I've had trouble getting into several this morning, including this one. I hope there is going to be some outrage about this Navy site's Y2K Lite comments about Gary North and the rest of us, all you have to do is read the whole thing and you are going to see a personal attack that is really reprehensible. I'm no big fan of Gary's, but this is insulting and offensive. He is also being attacked so blatantly for being white, male, southern and Christian, I can't imagine them doing something like this on Louis Farrakhan and getting away with it!

WOW, I haven't had such a good laugh in a long time...the Navy has a full Gary South forum complete with topics, etc. What a HOOT!!

Guess they have enough time on their hands to do all that!

The Gary South site has been up for over a year now. I myself have posted the link here before, as have others I'm sure.

http://www.garysouth.com/

And, yes, it can be funny or insulting depending on your mood du jour.

I'm offended that the Navy didn't link to it rather than display it on their own page. But Ed and others do that too, so....
