This is starting to piss me off...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

Alright, this is starting to get ridiculous. I've now sent an e-mail to Discipline, asking him why for the past month the only scores he has challenged are my first places. Today alone he has uploaded at three separate occasions to the site, and all three have been for games that I previously held the top score on. How do the rest of you MARPers feel about this kind of behavior? I understand that this site IS all about trying to make better and higher scores, but this player seems to be obsessed only with bringing mine down. That's not the point of MARP is it?

For those of you thinking I might be paranoid(as in my previous post), take a minute to check the facts like JoustGod did. Since Discipline's arrival, he has challenged only my scores, and only my first places. Becuase I am the leading submitter to MARP I think(close to 500), I'm used to getting a lot of e-mail telling me that my scores have been beaten. But it really sucks when half of my new submissions each day are scores that I had to rechallenge from THE SAME PLAYER again and again and again.

So what do you guys think? Should I shut up and quit whining, or do I have a point? And what should I do about it?

Thanx, Q.T.Quazar

I'm not trying to be insulting, but first guess is your uncontested uploads are easy marks. It looks to me like he's been watching the upload list, and figuring if you have 1st on a 36bX that it's takeable. You could also both be doing the "gold rush" bit & he hasn't really noticed you, but I'm paranoid enough to bet on the former.

BTW is Ikari III broken??? Those scores look awfully low.

I know this may not be the correct place to place where I am going to say, but I want to group everything at once. A) QT, stop being paranoid. You used to be the hunter here with some of our scores, and now you are the hunted. Just get used to it. (I once though someone was out for me, but they moved on in time) B) When did we agree to blank all T&F scores? I may be like in 8th or 9th, but still? Just remove the offending ones, and let's get on with it. C) Question to anyone in the gallery, what games are the easy max games? (Someone e-mail me what that information, don't need to spread it here) D) Welcome back JSW, and who said you can't get into the tourney. There is still time, I think. E) Can anyone get me a working copy of Bombjack (set1)? I have a working bj(set2), but set 1 doesn't work. (THAT's why I haven't submitted a score on that game) F) Can't think of anything else at the moment, ok that's enough.

B) Give Zwaxy a little time in removing the scores if that is his final decision. I don't think we can truly remove the offending ones, we should remove all of them and attach some text to the game description that it should be cheat free and hopefully honest people will upload. C) i'm assuming easy max games are games like ghosts+goblins, there's a list of banned techniques in the MARP user guide or Ettiquette page, found from the Help link up top. D) See! If we would have closed the tournament in two months JSW wouldn't have been able to enter (that is if he wants to.) E) Aren't all the roms for the tourney on gameboy's page? F) i apoligize for only sending this response once.

If a player think he is good enough to beat a score, he should be free to try and beat it,if its mine ok,if its Qt's its ok,i dont give the fuck who beats my scores. IF A PERSON IS BETTER THAN ME ON A GAME, THEN FINE.

Suggestion : I can compile a Mame version after each release of Mame, where the cheat option is disabled. If we make this version of the program the only allowed program,it would make things much easier.

Continuing to roll the issues, here we go. 1) Sorry about the multisend, it was a damn error with the message board that I couldn't determine whether or not it was going through. 2) On the T&F issue, are we also removing the RLH option as well? 3) Stig, even though that is temping, not all use DOSMame, and forcing all to one program would be against MARP, as anyone outside MARP would have to get that ONE program to look at the recordings... 4) I was talking about max games that are legal to do. Example: Dominoes. 5) The Tourney ROMs, and others, are on my site/page/whatever you call it. More people helping to make MARP a better place.

I am pretty sure, i can get somebody to compile mame32 with that disabled too. I am also thinking of making a exe file with forced TG settings. Mark Longdridge had such version of Mame 0.30. I will discuss it with him.

Here's a suggestion! I figure if you stop submitting scores for a while, he'll quit also. Given a long enough period of time without submitting will drive discipline absolutely crazy! There you go...drive him insane! Then after a while (a couple of months or so) he'll probably grow tired of waiting for you to submit scores and will go on to stalk someone else on the net. Now isn't it strange that your tournament score submissions don't suffer the same fate as the regular MARP submissions? Hmmm. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that your tourney scores are a bit more legit thus harder to beat? Hmmm.

And Stig, please go easy on the "f-word" on the message board...thanks. ;)
