I can no longer access Jim Lord's site

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Several minutes ago, I was showing my husband some of the info Jim Lord had put on his website re: the Navy report. When we tried to get back to the main webpage, we had a message that the site could no longer be accessed. "Error found" was the message. So I tried GN's site to try to access it from there and also re-keyed the address several times - NO LUCK! Is anyone else having this problem? Is it possible that the info has been removed from the Net? This is very strange !!!

"This is very strange!!!"

Nope. Par for the course I'm afraid. This is what I got twice:

"The page cannot be found The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable."

Two scenarios possible. First one is that there is a technical and VERY coincidental problem with the site/server. Second one is the scarier one where the site has been "taken out" by your friendly neighborhood jackbooted thugs-er bureaucrats. Take your pick.

Maybe its because I left my tinfoil hat on so the solar flares wouldn't burn my bald head, but from all the stuff I have learned recently, the Big Picture now looks to me like one HUGE slow-motion disaster unfolding as we speak. Like a tidal wave advancing on the shore or the World Trade Center towers toppling over. God help us.

People, trust us, it's still there. Try cleaning your cash or quit your browser and restart it, or refresh the page.

Then click on this http://209.26.202.182/

It pops up and down. I am guessing it is just the load of people trying to access it. Keep trying.

It's still there, just totally overloaded from all the attention it's getting right now. Same thing happens to me with this site at certain times of the day.

Thanks for all your help, everyone! A big special THANK YOU to Sometimes HTML. Your Freerepublic link was very helpful! I intend to run a copy of the report tonight. I guess I posted my questions because I was wondering if I was keying something wrong, or my computer was acting up, or the site was moved, or removed, or. . . well, you get the idea. I needed some questions answered and you all helped a great deal. Thank you so much!!!!

That is SO weird!

The .cfm pages worked for me for a while, then they stopped working and switched to .html. Then those didn't work, and only the ip # worked for a while. Now the .cfm pages work and the .html don't.

Oh, well. I guess at least we can assume that it isn't "official intervention."
