MARP Tournament - What do you think of the leaderboard?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

I'm just curious to see what you think of the way we kept score during this tournament. Do you think it was a good idea, and it should be kept for future tournaments, or do you think some other way should be implemented for the next tournament?

I say we should keep it, because it is leading toward one of the more exciting arcade tournaments out there. Every increase in placing leads to every point which could lead to a victory in the tournament.

If we kept the percentage scoring system, we have BeeJay leading by 170 points - if the tournament ended with that leaderboard now, I would say change the leaderboard...

Keep it as is!! Positional scoring creates bunching at the top and this keeps things very close until the bitter end.

With straight %, 1 or 2 people could have run away with it never looking back. The other players then lose interest in trying to "catch up" or can't because they've maxed out their skill.

The scoring system is excellent. It's fair, promotes competition, and maintains a balance between games-- something % scoring can't accomplish.
