Our latest REMC (rural electric co.) newsletter said this:

Y2K MISSION STATEMENT

Our objective is to ensure, to the extent possible, that our customers receive an uninterrupted supply of electricity and that all support systems and equipment function smoothly over the critical Year 2000 sensitive dates.

That statement has "written by our lawyer" all over it. It says nothing and gets them off the hook if there's no power.

Link, while I'm not a democrat, after Armstrongs statement about "y2k being used to sell stuff" and following these links I suddenly find myself liking Abhrasem(sp) more. It seems if it were not for him alot (most) of this wouldn't be in place.

REMC buys power from Cinery. Cinergy is compliant. As long there isn't any overload causing Cinergy to drop clients things should be fine.

TO Moore Dinty Moore...

I used to live in your neck of the woods, once upon a time before jumping on a wagon train moving west. I can tell you from my contacts in your area of Indiana... Cinergy is NOT... NOT... I repeat...NOT COMPLIANT...according to my sources within that outfit and also those handling consulting duties. According to what I've been hearing that company is like most others... spinmeistering their way past the real facts. At least...that's what my sources are indicating. Much if not all of the embedded systems were not even tested ... too little $$$ and too little time with too few many people to do the job. At least that is the story that I'm hearing. According to one programmer they can't even finish code remediation... wholesale chunks of code were simply ignored...if my source is correct...and I see no reason to disbelieve the person who was one of the upper echelon honchos involved in the programs for remediation. Therefore, I wouldn't take any comfort in any statements that Cinergy or any other companies in your neck of the woods might state.
