I don't think the politicians care that much about losing the MVET. Its the people getting to vote on increasing taxes and fees that they are really crying about but they won't tell you that. The MVET is a small percentage of the budget income for the state (even know they whine it is a big part) but, they will lose their all mighty power to say lets do this and that with out having to think of the consequences of who will pay for it. You and I know its fun to spend money, to say "look what I bought or where I went". By voting in I-695 we take away their fun, and make them think before they go build a stadium or some other boondoogle. Us voters will vote for increases if it is necessary, but not on show and tell toys.
