Excellent composition, although the antlers are competing with tree
branches for attention.
But this looks about a whole stop underexposed. If the original is not
so dark, try another scan, adjusting density manually next time.

Keith, thanks for your compliments on the composition. I agree, the
antlers don't stand out nearly as well on my computer monitor as they
do in the slide, due in part to the "underexposed" scan.
As I look at the other images on display here and even though they
look great, I wonder if those lost as much as this one in the
transition.
BTW, the slide was scanned with an Olympus ES-10 that we use at work.
The loss in image quality from the original is considerable.
