EOS 300 EF lens ( 28 - 80 mm )

I intend to buy Cannon EOS 300 with the EF 28-80 mm lens. The camera will be used to take photo of group of student. ( the photo will be enlarged to be hang on the wall ) I will also take photo in party session and photo of student doing practical training ( will later be used for exhibition purposes ). Please advise if this camera is good for me. Thank you very much.

The camera is definitely good, but I suppose you should get EF 50/1.8 instead of 28-80 zoom. Why? Well, the short answer it is cheap and perfoms much better, especially for enlargements, where one may wish sharp image with little grain. These two are made by sharp lens (cheap prime or expensive zoom) and a medium speed film (ISO 100). With cheap zoom one has to forget about films, slower than ISO 400 (without a flash, but good flash costs about the price of such a camers).

Sincerely, VB.

Have you considered the EOS 28-105?
