Quantril's Quandry

greenspun.com : LUSENET : orienteer kansas : One Thread

OK occassionally hosts a summer street-O event in honor(?) of Quantril's sacking of Lawrence. Quantril's Raid was in August, but we thought we might postpone the O event until September. Which weekend is best for most folks? Will someone volunteer to set a street-O course using George McCleary's excellent map of Lawrence?

Mary, I have been thinking about Mike's proposition of moving the Quandry to Holton. Of course this would conflict with the info in Mook's web page, but we've already done that by postponing the date from the 21st. (I bet Quantrill had more enthusiasm about this than we... but he didn't have to think of new ways to raid Lawrence each year.) An alternative is to offer a hodge podge of all the previous Quandries that I've done, but I don't think I could find all my records in time. So, while I'm still comtemplating how to set up a Quandry in Lawrence that follows the format of the game Clue, how would people feel about doing an event in a new locale (but most likely on very old maps...)?

In response to Fritz's suggestion that Quantrill's could be moved out of Lawrence and moved into September, I of course can't show overwhelming support for this idea, but always it is better to have Quantrill's than no Quantrill's, so why not go for it? Holton or bust!

A Clue-based course sounds fun. I actually thought about that once and wrote up a list of clues (people, places, weapons) that could be right/wrong answers to solve a murder. I seem to recall that the correct answer was actually "Fritz with the axe at the OK clubhouse..."
