Amnesty on the 3 day rule and suggestion for next tournament

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

Pat,

Firt the amnesty: I do believe now that MARP has been out of action for 3 days that we will need to allow any recordings made in the last 6 days (keep adjusting by 1 day if the outage continues) to be allowed even though they break the 3 day ruling...

Now the suggestion for next tournament:

Having the rule at 3 days is probably too prohibitive in the early stages of a tournament. My proposal is initially allow any recording up to 2 weeks old to be uploaded. Once into the final 6 weeks of the tournament reduce the time allowed for uploads to 1 week. When into the final 2 weeks of the tournament all recording should be uploaded within 3 days of being made but preferably when possible uploaded the day you recorded it so everyone you beat has as much time as possible to try to achieve a better score. This is to try to keep the competitions on as gentlemanly a footing as possible and any 3 day old recordings uploaded on the last day of the tournament or even in the last few hours of the tournament will be highly frowned upon and considered against the spirit of this new "sport of gentlemen".

Agreed. I can't surf to anything on the tourney side of MARP. I'm sure it's affecting submissions, as I have yet to see one INP this weekend!! It's so quiet, almost erie...

I like your suggestion for the next one. Except I might add: shorten the submission time for the last week to 24 hrs. Also, if the tourney is shortened to 2 months, then time periods would change a little.
