Wholesale Prices Rise in July-NYT on the Web

Bear with me here while I link to the New York Times on the Web.

Link

if it doesn't work the address is:

Some of the more interesting topics pertain to Gas. That pump prices have slowed over the last couple of weeks, but that there was a 3.4% rise in energy costs in July.

It is a good article and is excellent for showing exactly how fragile the "economy" really is. Just looking at the economy and trying to GAUGE what any indicators may be.

Off topic Western Digital is moving jobs 2,500 jobs from Singapore and moving some into Maylasia. (Someone want to send the CIA's website to their CEO? Just for laughs, of course.)

Wholesale price rise is not being viewed by Wall Street as bad news. The Dow is up 122 points and the NASDAQ Composite Index is up 53 at 10:22am today.

Chicken Farmer, where are you getting your numbers?

Stan,

You must be getting your numbers from quote.yahoo.com, where the Dow number has been stuck at +19.95 for at least the last half hour (every time I've checked). Your NASDAQ and S&P numbers seem to be correct, though.

Here's what's on www.cnnfn.com at 10:54a ET:

Markets Snapshot

DOW +124.11 10913.50 1.15%

NASDAQ +61.01 2610.50 2.39%

S&P 500 +20.98 1319.14 1.62% BOND 99 27/32 6.13%

Don,

Thanks for the confirmation and correction. You're right, I was using yahoo numbers. I am reminded of the time Etrade screwed up my account records and I thought I was a millionaire. (sniff) I was a millionaire in my imagination for about 5 minutes before I got the big let down.

Sincerely, Stan Faryna

Why is the market going up today? IMHO, simply because investors are tired of having it go down. We MUST have a bull market, no matter what. Time to get the last $$$ out, guys.
