If 5% is going to stop road repair and construction, lay off the police force, close parks, Restrict EMS services, and on and on than what the Hell are they doing with the other 95%!!!!!!!!

Glenn, Your answer is right on! However, the state passes the MVET on to local agencies who also levy taxes on us. When you consider the revenue collected by the state and local governments, the loss in MVET revenue is less than 2%. Using Department of Revenue data it's 1.8%

The cities in my area all have large reserves (surplus). The reserves can easily make up the loss in MVET without outside help. But if the state decides to do so, they can redirect the $1 billion surplus anyway they want to.
