Neg spot not dust

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Film & Processing : One Thread

I have a negative developed in France that has what looks like originally a dust spot from the film developing process, ie it can't be removed. Besides spotting the print, is there anything to be done in the printing? thanks

You might be able to remove the dust from the negative. First, find it, with a powerful loupe. Then try to shift it with a soft brush. If that doesn't work, a lens cloth might work, or it might be dried into the emulsion, in which case you would have to re-wash the film (which carries a risk of adding more dust).

You might find that printing with a diffuse enlarger helps.
